Ah, well… my hand isn’t 100% but it’s about 80%. I can type! Woo hoo! So, here come more books and fewer photos… but of course, I’ll keep doing both! Onward!
stories by Heidi Allen (lower case on purpose, as that’s how the title is written on the book!) is a book of… well, stories. It is billed as an anthology on amazon but it’s really a collection, for those of us annoyingly accurate, possibly to our detriment. But I digress.
This book is wonderful!
Allen is the founder of The Positive People Army. You can imagine that the book will then be filled with stories that extol that virtue… and you would be right. But before we get to that point, every story has a real live human (Heidi) talking about real-life problems, some not of her own making and some… of!
(Just a note: Their website needs work. Don’t let that stop you from looking around.)
This is a woman you see on the street… live next door to… teaches your children… or who lives in my (er, your) house. Allen is all of us!
The chapters (stories) are short, begin with a quote and end with a few questions about what you’ve learned. Simple, nice… and in this case… nice is very much like a comforting cup of tea in an easy chair.
My favorite story is about baseball tickets. I don’t want to give the whole thing away, of course, but I am kinda gonna give this one story away because I want you to see why you want to read this gem of a book.
Okay, let’s just say I’ve had what happened to her… about a billion times. She thought it said one day, it said the day before. Tickets useless, night ruined. But not so fast! Here’s where the choice Allen and her husband made DID make all the difference.
And I’m gonna stop here and ask you… what would you have done?
Most people I know – including me – would have beat themselves up roundly and headed home. Or maybe, if they were trying to make lemonade out of that darned lemon, might go to dinner or find something else to do. Some might decide to bite the bullet and buy new tickets if any were available.
So, say you decide to buy new tickets… you’re in line… and you’re grumbling. Dammit, we have to pay for the tickets all over again! You know, that kind of thing. Grumble, grumble, grumble. Okay, they have the tickets… let’s try to not let it ruin our night and off you go.
But say you put that lemonade away and start all over. Okay, over the line we go! This has been an adventure! You’re laughing… “yep, this is just one of those things!” and hold hands in line.
And that’s when something amazing happens… like someone decides to “Pay it Forward” by giving tickets to the happy couple in line. Don’t say it can’t happen… it happened to Allen and her husband!
I love stuff like that. Don’t you? No? Well, that’s because you don’t have enough magic in your life. You need more magic. Read this book. It will help!
Note: This book was sent to me by Wintertickle Press. Per our agreement, I read and share only what appeals to me — and as you can see, this one appealed to me!! 🙂

Ah, I was recovering from hand surgery. I could go into a whole *thing* here because only three years later, I need the surgery again. Or not, because I’m not gonna do it! If it didn’t work the first time, no use having them cut into me a second time trying to get it right. Am I right?
This book was/is a good one… again, one I might have written myself. I really should do that. But I digress.
