E2 by Pam Grout broke my heart a little.
At first, it seemed like a somewhat-lighthearted foray into asking God to turn the corner of a poster to prove He is real. You know, like how we did when we were 11. Or, at least, I did. I had a rather enlightened group of friends in the late 1960s – early 1970s… but then, who wasn’t enlightened back then? Ah, yes, Nixon. But I digress.
We would crowd into the kitchen pantry of a girl named Sandy,… oh, about six of us girls… and sometimes we had an Ouija Board. We were scared – yeah – but not as much as we should have been. That board = scary ASS, people. Don’t play with it! But I digress. Yes, again.
We’d light a candle and hold hands and pray to God to show us He was real. I know we were mixing religions, paganism, and maybe even satanism. It wasn’t our intention. We didn’t know better. Oh God, I’ve gone and digressed again.
Grout’s book is not religious, per se… it’s actually about energy work. But you know, I tend to mix them all up in my mind since God is everything and everything is God. So, yeah, there’s that.
There are nine – what she calls – experiments with “Lab Report Sheets” included. One for each experiment. My mom printed out the sheets but I used the book because I’m lazy and didn’t have a printer. It’s not a complicated lab form nor are the experiments. They’re things that will prove to you that what you think about – pray about – obsess about – comes to be.
Don’t believe it? Get the book and you’ll see it’s true!
It’s easy, breezy writing… conversational and fun.
Except.
That part that broke my heart. I’ll get there… promise!
Off and on throughout the book, I thought… Hey! Wow! We’re so alike that way!… like when she mentioned her first self-help book was the same as mine: Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne Dyer. She too first read it in college. Like minds and all that jazz, ya know?
But what really got to me was her birth story. I won’t wreck it by sharing it all with you here… but one part in particular reached out and captured me right in the feels. It was something her father said, as she lay in her bassinet. I found myself gasping… and when that happens, I know it means something profound to me. My birth story is not like hers but does have its share of pain and sorrow. But it wasn’t that. Honestly, it was what happened afterward… for both of us. An early lifetime of trying to prove to the people who mattered most to us that we were enough. Pretty enough. Worthy enough. Enough enough. Enough.
Kindred spirits, indeed.
It’s a great little book, not just because her life resonates so deeply with me… but because of what the book teaches us…
You can shape your life with your mind! This book will help to PROVE it. Don’t take my word for it — though I’ve long believed it! Find out for yourself!
if you need that final nudge to check it out, here are what the nine experiements are based upon:
1. There is an invisible energy force or field of infinite possibilities.
2. You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
3. You, too, are a field of energy.
4. Whatever you focus on expands.
5. Your connection to the field provides accurate and unlimited guidance.
6. Your thoughts and consciousness impact matter.
7. Your thoughts and consciousness provide the scaffolding for your physical body.
8. You are connected to everything and everyone else in the universe.
9. The universe is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating.

We are in total agreement about ouija boards. I’ll use any other divination method before I’ll listen to the pack of maliciously lying messengers attached to one of those hell-planks. What is it about that medium (haha!!), anyway? 😚😚
