You know, I really thought podcasts would be way, way, waaaaaaay easier than YouTube videos, given the fact that … uh… you don’t have to look at me. (Insert *boing* sound here! LOL)
I was wrong.
Both require a lot of planning and in both cases, I think I was too ambitious believing I could churn one out every week. <<< So, there’s that.
My forte is writing and I knew that going in. For both my YouTubes and Podcasts, I wrote a script and tried to memorize, recite and ad lib when appropriate, with varying degrees of success.
“Success” is a funny word, isn’t it? Totally subjective.
I didn’t succeed.
So, I’m thinking I need to rejig, regroup and rethink what it is I want to convey through speaking, no matter the venue.
Not that I haven’t – at least, on one level – enjoyed doing them… I have!
But I feel they’re deflecting from what I’m trying to build here.
You know, I used to give community talks and speeches to high schools and talk about all sorts of stuff. I was good at it, too!
I’m still trying to figure that out.
I’d like to move forward in a way that doesn’t totally date me as a 60+ year old. All the young people are doing podcasts and even some of the oldies-but-goodies. I know I have the voice for it because in all my years in sales, I was told I have a great voice. <<< Giving myself credit where it is due!
But dang, I just don’t like how things are going.
I may scale back the podcasts to once a month… or I may stop them altogether, like I did with the YouTubes. But that doesn’t mean they’re gone forever. They’re still here (and there) and I can always come back to them when I’m ready.
Hang tight and don’t give up on me yet. Just testing all the waters…
Thanks for being here and supporting me through my ups and downs! You’re the whole reason I do this thing!
