If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I have been working on a new logo because I had – in my excitement and haste – ordered a non-exclusive logo to be paid automatically out of my account. Had someone painstakingly worked on my logo and it was 100% mine, I would have gladly paid. However, I came to find out that I shared it with a pot shop and masseuse, among possible others. So, I went about trying to design one all my own.
A funny thing happened with this one and it changed the whole color trajectory of my site… AND I LOVE IT!
I drew out the design in color on white paper. I wanted the leaves to be green, to keep the tree theme without drawing an actual tree. I wanted the new little butterfly, in purple. Then, I wanted a person, with their toe on the “earth”. And I wanted it different enough not to be copying the old logo, which isn’t mine to use.
This is what I came up with… and I liked it. I really, really liked it!
But I needed my name on it. Tried to write it by hand. Printed my name. No. Not good.
I used my photo program with text for the name. No. Not good.
Used a meme-generator to insert the name on a photo of the logo. Better. Still not good.
Oh, forget it, I said. Let’s just try to get the logo itself online.
I went about different ways to get it onto my site here… and all my other platforms.
Seriously, computer? What-the-holy-heck??
I sized it. I resized it.
“””Oh yeah, I thought… that logo site I used had formats for all the different platforms… hmmm… possibly some of the reason for the price!”””
I darkened it. Lightened it. Made it bigger. Smaller.
My eyes were crossing.
No kidding… I spent about 5 hours on the whole darned thing.
Then, I happenstance-ily ran into a whole ‘nuther look…
I reversed the colors, totally in error. And OMG, the person was suddenly golden, the leaves were peachy the butterfly was green and gold… all of it with a background of a warm brown.
Friends and readers, it was PERFECT.
My site is all greens and white. What to do?
TIME TO CHANGE, Baby!
And so, I did!
While I was at it… I took a look at the visual “themes” available to me, reasoning that maybe it’s time for a whole new setup, too! I love the one I found!
My friend Ana told me that when she came to my page, it loaded slowly, so I moved some things around and also created a new page of “Non-crisis Resources” which will, I’m sure, keep me busy over the next few weeks.
All in all… the space feels warmer and more… oh, I don’t know… fancy? LOL
I just love how it looks!
Hopefully, I fixed whatever slow-loading issue Ana encountered and we’re set to go forward.
And finally, not a darned thing is going to change regarding content! I love what we’re doing here. I hope you do, too!!!
Any thoughts? Feel free to share!
