A Happy Update – Including fluorescent zig-zags

Yesterday, as most of us were taking one last call for the road, I started noticing the flashing lights on the periphery of my view.

Crap! Ocular migraine!

I had to keep going. It’s not like I could send the call to someone else or offer to call back later. So, I had to soldier through.

These painless visual migraines have a cycling I understand by now. First, the travel along the edges of my sight, then, across and through the middle, then out the other side.

Total time? About 20-35 minutes.

I found this shot on Pinterest it’s a very good idea of what I see.

Of course, when it first happened, years ago, I was scared to death. Trip to the ER and all that.

I don’t get them often but when I do, I immediately take my medication and try to sit back and wait, if possible.

Long story short, the last time I got one was in an office where I was working under bright lights and facing a computer all day.

The time before that was during the first week of a new retail job – under fluorescent lights.

This time, both of those things were happening. New job, fluorescent lights. So, understandable.

Luckily, I stayed calm, took my pill, and remembered that for me, this job already feels (mostly) very familiar. I got through it, nobody the wiser. But I did feel a little discombobulated during our end-of-day Zoom meeting.

That said, this job is a godsend. I absolutely love it! Like I said already, I feel comfortable, though there are a few things I still struggle with. Also understandable, since I’ve been there only a month!

And guys, check this out!

Even though I’ve only been there a short time I was included in their much-anticipated Christmas box! Every year, they give each of their employees a box jammed with awesome stuff!

It was delivered by courier! My husband had to look at that box all day until I got home!

And the BIG reveal!!!

  • Blanket
  • Wireless charger
  • Wireless earbuds
  • Chef knives
  • Cutting boards for specific meats, veg, etc.
  • Charcuterie set
  • Candy & snacks
  • Cocoa
  • Fanny Pack (I looked for one last year for walking!! I neeeed this!)
  • Thermal mug

Isn’t this amazing? I certainly think so because most jobs don’t do anything like this anymore! Never mind a Christmas turkey or bonus!

Finally, remember (about six months ago) how I told you guys about my 500,000 monthly views on Pinterest? It’s gone down since then , back up, and down again. And then, it shot way up! Yes, folks! That’s ONE MILLION monthly views!

Cool, eh?

Yep! These are pretty darned good days for this Whisperer!

Now if only I could win the lottery and bring my whole family to me for Christmas! I might actually buy a ticket today!!!
